How to set up your Evangel account in the Microsoft Authenticator App.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) helps protect your account and is required for all Evangel accounts. This guide will assist you in setting MFA on your account.

I) Set Up Instructions

1. First, download the Microsoft Authenticator App on your phone. The icon looks like this:
    

   iPhone: Microsoft Authenticator - on the Apple App Store

   Android: Microsoft Authenticator - on the Google Play store

    

2. Next, on your computer, open a web browser and sign in to your Evangel account (myaccount.evangel.edu).

    

3. After signing in, you'll be asked to provide some additional information.

   
   
    

4. Click Next, and you’ll be taken to the MFA setup page.

   
   
    

5. Keep clicking Next until a QR code appears.

    

   
    

6. Open the Microsoft Authenticator App on your phone.

    

7. Tap to add an account and select "Work or school account."

    

8. Choose "Scan QR code." (You might need to allow the app to use your camera and send notifications.)

    

9. Scan the QR code shown on your computer screen. Your account should then appear in the app.

    

10. Back on your computer, click Next.

     

11. An authentication test will start. A number will show on your computer, and the app on your phone will ask you to enter that number.

     

    

     

12. After confirming the number, your Authenticator App will be linked to your account. Click Next on your computer to continue.

     

13. Next, you’ll need to add your mobile phone number to your account. Enter your number, and you’ll get a text message.

     

14. Enter the 6-digit code from the text message to confirm your phone number.

     

15. Click Next, then click Done to finish.

II) Sign-in Instructions

Once MFA is set up, the next time you sign in, you’ll be asked to verify your identity. 

After entering your username and password, you’ll get a prompt to approve the sign-in.

A notification will appear on your phone, opening the Microsoft Authenticator App. If you don’t see the notification, you can open the app manually. You’ll be asked to approve or deny the sign-in and enter a number shown on the sign-in page.

If it’s you signing in, tap Yes. If not, tap "No, it's not me."
