There are many reasons why the portal may fail to load. If you are having trouble, please try some of the following solutions. Please note:
Returning students will not have access to the portal until being readmitted (Admissions - Evangel University).
Mac users may experience issues using the Safari web browser. Evangel IT recommends using Microsoft Edge.
1) Use a private browsing session / clear browser cache.
Clearing your browsing cache can fix web login issues because it removes outdated or corrupted data, such as cookies, session tokens, or cached files.
Keyboard Shortcut
Ctrl + Shift + N (Windows)
Command + Shift + N (Mac)
Edge/Chrome
Click the three-dot menu labeled "Settings and more" in the top-right corner (Alt + F) and choose "New InPrivate Window" or "New Incognito Window"
Safari
Click File > New Private Window
If you can log in this way, clearing your browser cache will fix the error (Ctrl + Shift + Delete). This is located in the browser's History setting.
2) Turn off all Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).
You cannot sign into the portal with a VPN because it may detect suspicious IP addresses that conflict with the authentication process. You will need to set all VPNs to OFF. If you are unsure where to toggle your VPN, consider your:
- Operating System settings
- Browser extensions
- Antivirus software
3) Update your password (passwordreset.evangel.edu).
Using the incorrect username and password combination will result in denied access to the student portal. If you are unsure if you are using the correct password, consider updating it.
4) Type in your password manually (compared to autofill).
If you cannot sign into the portal, you should avoid using the autofill feature for your password. Stored credentials may be outdated, incorrect, or corrupted. Manually entering your password ensures you're using the correct, up-to-date credentials and helps identify if the issue stems from the autofill data itself.
5) Add or remove '@evangel.edu' from your username.
If you're unable to sign in to the portal, try entering only your username and removing the “@evangel.edu” portion.
If you're signing in to a Microsoft application, you can also try entering your full email address, including “@evangel.edu.”
Switching between using the username alone and the full email address can help resolve credential issues and confirm that the correct login information is being used.
6) Try a different network.
Trying a different network or using a mobile hotspot can resolve login errors by allowing a fresh connection, unblocked from flagged IP addresses if you were using mobile data or a VPN prior.
7) Sign-in on a different device.
Device-specific reasons for failing to log into the Evangel student portal include corrupted browser cache or cookies, outdated browser versions, incorrect VPN configurations, faulty autofill credentials, conflicting browser extensions, restrictive device security settings, or incompatible operating systems, which can often be resolved by trying a different device.
8) Switch to a different browser.
Using a different browser, such as switching from Chrome to Edge, can resolve login issues with the Evangel student portal, as the problem may stem from browser-specific issues like corrupted cache, incompatible extensions, or outdated versions that interfere with the portal’s authentication process.
This can also solve the issue if you are logged into the portal with a different Evangel account and need to switch.
